Curve teams with Xero

London-based start-up Curve, a mobile app that enables users to spend from all their accounts with one card, is dangling a juicy carrot in front of small business owners and freelancers – it will handle their expense reports, writes Paybefore (Banking Technology‘s sister publication).

The company has a new partnership with Xero to send expense details directly to the accounting software, which it says will make the time-consuming job of doing expenses effortless and could give back an estimated 65 million days a year to small business owners in the UK – worth more than £7 billion to the British economy.

More than 75,000 small businesses, freelancers and contractors around Europe have signed up to use Curve to simplify their finances – by spending from all their accounts with one Curve Mastercard, connected to a secure mobile app. The prepaid card is issued by Wirecard, and cardholders have spent almost £70 million in more than 100 countries.

Xero caters to small businesses and has more than one million subscribers.

“Our new partnership with Curve makes managing your business spending even easier, freeing up time that can be spent on growing your business instead,” says Edward Berks, director of financial web and ecosystem at Xero. “And since it reduces manual data entry, reconciliation and human error as a result, our accounting and book-keeping community will benefit, too.”

Curve recently closed a $10 million Series A funding round with investors including Santander InnoVentures and Oxford Capital.
