UBS takes new CTO from Deutsche Telecom

UBS has appointed Peter Sany as chief technology officer and head of ITI, effective from April 1, 2009. He will be based in Zurich.

Sany currently holds the position of group chief information officer for Deutsche Telekom in Bonn, with global responsibility for all internal information technology and processes. He started his career at IBM where he spent 14 years in different roles with increasing national and international responsibility. From 1997 to 2004, Sany worked at Novartis, ultimately holding the position of Corporate and Pharma Division CIO.

Peter succeeds Scott Abbey who has advised UBS of his desire to transition out of his current responsibilities. Together with the business divisions, Scott was instrumental in the work that led to the formation of ITI in 2004 and resulted in substantial cost efficiencies for the firm. Scott has carried his current role for almost five years.
