Barclays' customers visiting its mobile banking site can now view balances, mini-statements and make transfers between their accounts through a newly customised interface, developed specifically for viewing over a mobile phone.
Barclays mobile services have been developed to operate on the main mobile platforms, which means that customers with Apple, HTC, Nokia, Motorola and Blackberry mobiles can access these services.
Sean Gilchrist, Barclays' digital banking director, said: "The growth of consumers using our mobile banking services has been phenomenal this year as we have listened and developed core mobile banking services they have told us they need. It's important for Barclays to maintain and continue to develop an innovative mobile banking approach, to provide customers with a full banking service which is fast and easy to navigate regardless of what mobile phone they are using."
These follow on from the recent developments ‘branch and ATM locator' using maps that specifically fit mobile handsets, simplified log-in process and free mobile security software from Kaspesky. The next phase for Barclays mobile phone banking will be looking into developing the following services;
