The supervisory board of The Order Machine announced its intention to appoint Willem Meijer to chief executive. In his career Meijer has held several senior positions within the financial industry including his previous position as chief executive at SNS Securities.
Meijer said: "In my view the profound changes within the financial markets offer excellent business opportunities for TOM. With founders Optiver and BinckBank and after the entrance of new market participants, TOM expects to play an important role in the exchange environment. I am delighted to be part of this dynamic initiative."
Jelle Elzinga, director at Optiver added: "The introduction of MiFID has definitely changed the landscape of the European financial markets. Regarding the experience and knowhow of Willem Meijer, he is the right man for the job and capable of making TOM a successful company."
Currently the decision to appoint Willem Meijer is awaiting approval by the Dutch authorities. Upon approval, Willem Meijer and chief operations officer Henk Wim van Arem will form the TOM management board.
