Direct Edge delays launch of exchanges over technology hang-ups

Direct Edge has revised the testing schedule and launch timeline for its EDGA and EDGX Exchanges.

The firm says that its revised timeline has been put in place to allow for additional quality assurance and user acceptance testing. It hopes that this will facilitate a smooth transition, and allows its members and technology providers additional time to connect to its new data centre and certify to the new technology platform. The first production symbols will begin trading on the exchanges on Friday, July 2, 2010.  Additional information regarding the migration and newly announced UAT dates is as follows:

  • New migration period start date - July 2, 2010 with three symbols TBD
  • Migration timeline - approximately 2-3 weeks, ending on or about July 20, 2010
  • Symbol migration schedule - to be released mid-June, 2010
  • Future UAT dates - Saturday, June 12 and Saturday, June 19, 2010
  • Test symbol availability in production environment - June 21, 2010
